Sick leave is provided as an employee benefit to aid employees. Its use must be restricted to qualifying situations and employees are encouraged to accumulate sick leave to carry them through unforeseen and lengthy illness. Retaliation by the County for the employee's lawful use of paid sick leave accrued, pursuant to state law and other rights provided under Chapter 49.46 RCW and all applicable rules, is prohibited.
