Family leave is provided to employees as required by and in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (hereafter Federal FMLA). Washington Paid Family Medical Leave (hereafter State PFML), if applicable, shall be applied concurrently according to State of Washington laws and regulations. The Human Resources Director shall promulgate implementing Administrative Guidelines as necessary and shall administer the Federal FMLA program in accordance with the provisions of the law as amended. Definitions will be as found in the Washington State PFML law or Federal FMLA law as applicable. The Human Resources Department shall be responsible to determine employee eligibility for Federal FMLA based on the date the leave is to commence. State PFML shall be administered by the State of Washington, Employment Security Department.
