This section is included in your selections.

After the LUAC is created, the first terms of the members shall be staggered as follows: two shall be appointed for one year; two shall be appointed for two years; two shall be appointed for three years; and three shall be appointed for four years. Thereafter, the successors to the first appointment shall be appointed to four-year terms. Members may serve until their successor is appointed and confirmed, or for 60 days following the expiration of the term, whichever is sooner. No member of a LUAC shall serve more than two consecutive full terms of office or eight consecutive years, whichever is the longer period, without a minimum of a one-year break in service.

Notwithstanding the 60-day limit above, LUAC members whose terms expire during a community plan update may file a request with the Planning and Public Works Department to remain on the LUAC until the process is complete. Upon approval by the Department, the Department shall notify the Pierce County Council of the request. The notification to Council shall state the name of the LUAC member, their appointment date, reason for the extension, estimated end date, and Council district. The request shall be deemed granted unless the Council adopts a Resolution denying the request within 14 days of notification by the Department. Extended member terms pursuant to this Section will terminate upon the final recommendation of the LUAC on the community plan update.
