The Commission shall consist of nine members, one member from each Pierce County Council District and two at-large members. No more than four members may be from any single municipal jurisdiction and at least one member shall be a youth or young adult member under the age of 25 at the time of appointment. All members shall be residents of Pierce County. All members shall demonstrate experience or expertise with the refugee and immigrant issues, as well as a commitment to all refugee and immigrant communities. A majority of members shall be refugees or immigrants. To the extent possible, membership should be from African communities, European/Middle East communities, Latino communities, and Asian/Pacific Islander communities. The members shall be appointed by the Pierce County Executive and confirmed by the Pierce County Council. The Commission members shall serve without compensation.
