The advisory commission shall serve as a forum to discuss a variety of local transportation issues and to provide policy, safety, and prioritization advice on these issues to the governing board of the Transportation Benefit District, the Pierce County Executive, and the Pierce County Council. Duties of the advisory commission include:

A. Reviewing, advising, and making recommendations on Pierce County transportation capital improvement projects, to include recommendations related to congestion reduction, safety benefits, and project prioritization;

B. Acting as a liaison, coordinate an information exchange on transportation issues among Pierce County and local, state and federal government agencies, citizens, and commercial, agricultural, manufacturing, and other businesses of Pierce County;

C. Reviewing, advising, and making recommendations regarding transportation system financing and financing proposals such as traffic impact fees, real estate excise tax, mileage taxes, and other funding sources; and

D. Performing other transportation policy-related duties from time to time as directed by the Pierce County Council or the governing board of the Transportation Benefit District.
